Comments: After the immense struggle up the 99 switchbacks, the ascent to the summit acquired a new energy. I passed up a number of people in a group who had earlier passed me. I knew I would make it, and I had rationed out Gu to reinforce my blood sugar. The trail was definitely not as rough and boulder-jumping jagged as I last remember it 11 years ago. I was quite happy indeed to reach the summit and sign the register. The sky remained pretty clear and the view was incredible. Very quickly I reconnoitered around and decided to shoot first from the northeast side of the summit. This is that shot.
