Backpack items and weights

In order to reduce my packweight, I studied other people's journals of their PCT walks, as well as read more Ray Jardine. Most people aiming for low weight do not use a backpack which weighs seven pounds by itself, but after JMT1's bad experience, comfort trumped weight for the pack.
