The trip of a lifetime, continued
Looking back on this extraordinary walk, I'm thankful that we had no injuries, no bear attacks, no thunderstorms at the passes, and no fires blocking our path. The good company of David and Susan made the trip twice as enjoyable as it would have been otherwise. It was a great pleasure to be totally present in all the scenery; no interruptions from cellphones, e-mail, or IM. In fact from Bear Ridge onwards, we couldn't have made a phone call if our lives had depended on it. We discovered what we were capable of in some of the harshest territory in the west, had a good time, and I captured as much on film as one could hope for given the schedule. It remains one of the best backpack trips I've ever gone on.
