Panorama of the Eiger, Mönch, Jungfrau, Lauterbrunnen area
Comments: Most everywhere
you go in Switzerland, there are large numbers of tourists, some of which
inevitably get in the
picture when shooting a VR. For this panorama, I climbed off the main trail
and managed to get my favorite viewpoint in the Bernese Oberalps without
any tourists. This is from above the Kleine Scheidegg. Things you can see
in the panorama include: the famous Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau; the village
of Grindelwald, Kleine Scheidegg, and what looks like trails in the distance
are some of the train tracks leading up to Kleine Scheidegg,
and
beyond.
Viewing Options:
(1.4MB)
The panorama is presented much like all the free panoramas
on my site, except it has more detail.
FullScreen
VRs provide greater immersion in the scene. Instead of appearing inside
a browser window, the VR is opened using the QuickTime Player. The panorama
is
then displayed the full width of your monitor, and all other windows are
blacked out (temporarily). It's hard to describe how incredible the impact
is, especially on a larger monitor. You still use your mouse to navigate
around. When you are done looking at the
scene,
press
the "esc" (or
Escape) key and your normal desktop will return. (Click
for more info on FullScreen mode)
