Information on Tahoe National Forest

Tahoe National Forest encompasses a variety of lands to the northwest of Lake Tahoe, roughly described by the towns Camptonville, Downieville, Sierra City, Sierraville, Truckee, Tahoe City, Foresthill and Nevada City (these last two are not within the park). The forest includes several forks of the Yuba River and American River. The Forest anchors the northern end of Gold Country, and includes jagged mountain peaks, rolling foothills, beautiful glacial lakes, and many recreational choices.
