There is a different sense from the usual dayhiker's world--carrying an extra 15 pounds or so of photographic gear on your back. At times now I don't even notice I'm carrying the extra load (but as a child I did spend a few weekends and summers carrying much heavier tripods for my father the surveyor). Responses from people met on the trail have ranged from "Canon...hmmm", "Get some good photos?" to a wary glance (from a distance I'm sure it could look like some form of weapon), to getting displaced from a prime spot on the edge of the Mono Tufa formations by some rude videographers, to specific queries as to what I was doing and requests for my web page URL. After hundreds of excursions, I've still not run into anyone else doing VR in the backcountry, and only two people who recognized that I'm shooting a QuickTime panorama.

Your feedback helps to keep the motivation going. Thanks!
