Source: The street grid for the Palo Alto downtown map was traced
in Adobe Photoshop from a scan of a USGS topo map of the area. All subsequent
details were all drawn using Adobe Illustrator v5.x (later v6, later yet,
v7, and today v8) on a Macintosh. Most of the restaurant information was
gathered first hand by walking around and sampling the data. All maps
after BBRSP benefited from using Mapublisher to import USGS DLG data directly
into Adobe Illustrator v7.
Image Credits: A few graphics such as the above are from Photodisc,
while others are from the Visual Language Library: Antique Maps of the
World: 1531-1680.
Miscellaneous: The scale on the bitmap maps is calculated on the
basis of a 72 ppi monitor. If you display the map on a 100 ppi monitor,
then the scale will be (72/100) smaller.
Thanks: for all the feedback on this site.
